Indoor Temperature

This measures temperature at the location of the dial (unlike the electronic temperature which reads remote temperatures) & is factory set to bring you accurate readings. If necessary to reset, place temp gauge in a room with a reference thermometer for about an hour to obtain a stable reading. The accuracy of setting the thermometer depends upon the accuracy of the reference thermometer.

To recalibrate, place a coin in the slot at the back of the movement & adjust to read correct room temperature. Hold upright & tap thermometer to make sure hand has settled at the correct reading. Put a piece of tape over the slot to prevent it from being accidentally moved.

Indoor/Outdoor Temperature

Box contents: 1 temperature meter; 1 sensor probe w/ 50' 3 c. wire and capsule; 1 power supply.

BENCH TEST PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

Before installing take the time to connect it to test that it was not damaged in shipping.

CAUTION: do not cut the wire length of the remote sensor. Leave excess coiled up in attic space, etc.

DO NOT PLUG IN UNTIL ALL CONNECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.

Connect wires to terminals on rear of meter - terminals #1 red, #2 green and #3 black. On all models except 1042, connect either wire from transformer plug to #6 and #7. On model 1042 only- connect either wire from transformer plug to #10 and #11. Plug in.

Unit should show reading and have two red LEDs indicating what kind of reading. It will take a short while for the unit to stabilize. To clear false readings, reset by holding in reset button for 5 seconds.

Operation:

The unit is set to normally read Outdoors- where you located the remote sensor (it could be outdoors, greenhouse, or some secondary location other than outdoors). The right push button (as viewed from the front) changes the location of where you are monitoring the temperature - the left push button reads high, or low, or actual- what the temperature is at the present time.

Note: to properly use the push buttons- just push them once momentarily and release. Repeat this until you read the correct LED. Pushing the button in and holding it for 5 seconds will reset or Zero the
memory (it will then be set at the current emperature at that location). When the button is held in longer than 5 seconds to clear the memory, the LED will blink once.

To read outdoor actual- the right button should be momentarily pushed until the LED marked outdoor is lit. The left button should be momentarily pushed until the LED marked actual is lit. Note reading.

For outdoor high- assuming that the outdoor LED is still lit, push the left button until the LED marked high is lit. Note reading. Because you are testing this before installation, hold the outdoor sensor in your hand to change it's temperature. Note the difference.

For outdoor low - push left button momentarily until the LEDs marked low and outdoor are lit. Note reading. (Again- during testing this will only read lower if you can lower the temperature of the sensor.)

To read indoor - the right button should be momentarily pushed until the LED marked indoor is lit. The left button should be momentarily pushed until the LED marked actual is lit. This will give you the actual temperature of the where the meter is located. You may follow steps above to access high and low outdoor readings, however during testing the indoor readings will usually read the same until a day or so has passed. Indoor temperature should not vary much if your location is climate controlled.

Now you can install the sensor outdoors and unit where it will be located.

To install sensor: locate on North side of structure 8 ft. above the ground (not on roof; away from external sources of heat such as louvers, vents, etc.). Remove bottom cap and sensor from holder; remove plastic mounting bracket with screw. Attach bracket with screw to remote location.

Reassemble, inserting sensor and bottom cap. Do not add wire to the probe length. All meters are factory calibrated. Altering may void warranty. After installation, run through the steps above to check readings for

  • outdoor actual
  • outdoor high
  • outdoor low

Outdoor Temperature

Box contents: 1 temperature meter; 1 temperature sensor with 50’ 2 c wire, 1 6V-AC power supply.

BENCH TEST PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.

Connect probe wires to terminals on rear of meter - terminal #1 and #2. Connect power wires to terminals #3 and #4.

DO NOT PLUG IN UNTIL ALL CONNECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.

Plug in; note reading to see that instrument is working properly. Up to 300 ft. of wire may be added if properly soldered.

To install sensor: locate on North side of structure 8 ft. above the ground. Do not mount on roof. Mount away from external sources of heat such as louvers, vents, etc. Attach holder to location using the screw provided. Hold capsule with cap at top. Take probe wire and bend from bottom back toward top and carefully guide into holder aligning the wire into the groove in holder. Do not damage wire. Recheck wire to be sure it is properly in groove. All meters are factory calibrated. Altering may void warranty.
