A hygrometer indicates the amount of moisture
(relative humidity) in the air at its location. Humidity may
vary from room to room or even within a room. The movement contains
a fine synthetic filament which is sensitive to moisture & expands & contracts
with changes in moisture. Your unit is factory calibrated; however
hygrometers may need adjustment from time to time.
First, remove from wood mount if your model
has one. Wrap the meter securely in a wet linen cloth for 30
to 40 minutes. Your hygrometer should read approx. 95%. If not,
use a small screw driver to gently adjust set screw at rear of
unit until it reads 95%. Dry brass and glass thoroughly after
process. Process may be repeated until unit is properly recalibrated.
NOTE: if using without factory supplied wood
mount, use spacers provided to keep unit slightly away from wall
to allow air to circulate to rear of meter.
