Quartz Clock

Insert fresh longlife AA battery according to diagram imprinted in plastic slot for batter on movement at rear of clock. Turn wheel on movement to move clock hands clockwise until they indicate the correct time. Large numbers indicate 12 hr time; 24 hr time can be read on smaller scale.

Ship's Strike Clock

Important! Do not set the clock with the bells on!

The green grooved knob on top of the movement (upper right) operates the striking mechanism. Before setting, turn it to the left which is the OFF position. Turn the set knob located on the back of the movement counterclockwise until the hands indicate the correct time. The battery compartment is at the base of the clock movement. Insert a fresh AA 1.5V alkaline battery with the (+) end of the battery to the right. Turn the bell striking mechanism (green knob) on.

It is normal for the bell to strike out of sequence for a while. The clock will correct itself after running for about an hour. To silence the bells, turn the striking switch to left. Since there is no on or off for the clock’s operation, to stop the movement from functioning, the battery must be removed. To remove the battery, use a small screwdriver to dislodge one end of the battery. Bells not chiming properly indicate weak battery- replace with fresh battery.
