Set the barometer on a calm, clear day when
the barometric pressure is more constant than on stormy or windy
days. Using a small screwdriver, find the set screw recessed
in a small hole in the back of the unit. Please do not remove
any stickers - turning any brass screws that are not recessed
voids your warranty. Carefully turn the setscrew 1/16th of a
turn while
watching the
motion of the needle on the front until the needle indicates
the barometric pressure for your altitude. Consult your local
weather report. By lining up the reference needle with the indicating
needle, you will tell whether the needle is steady, falling,
or rising when lightly tapped.
In general, a rising barometer indicates fairer
weather approaching; a falling barometer stormy weather approaching.
As a rule, a barometer reading with the needle toward the left
of top, it indicates rain; to the right, fair. It is how the
needle is moving, not the reading that is important.
