General Installation For All Units

Meters - Classic meters can be recessed into the wall or mounted on Classic panels. To attach Classic panels of 5 or more instruments to the wall, find the studs inside the wall; then nail a strip of wood 1/2” by 20 inches long to the studs so that the panel can hang from it. Predrill holes 1/2” from the back edge of the panel and nail or screw the panel down onto the nailing strip (diagram 4 in downloadable manual, above).

Medallion, Seafarer, & Weatherhelm meters are ready to surface mount or can be mounted on flat panels that are ready to hang. If mounting on to drywall or sheetrock, it is recommended that mollys or anchors be used.

Roof transmitters - The mast pipe must be located on the highest and most exposed part of the roof, away from obstructions and open to the free flow of air. Make sure to install the mast firmly and straight so as to prevent uneven wear. The transmitters should not be mounted on working chimneys but should be reasonably easy to reach should the need for service arise. All roof transmitters should be grounded with a grounding kit (available at most electrical supply stores).

Leave an extra 1” slack below transmitters and sidearm( for water to drip off of), then tape wire down along the length of the mast, and along the structure. The wire can be installed to be inside the wall. If running outside the structure, use wire standoffs or stainless insulated staples and keep the wire tight enough to prevent whipping in the wind and to prevent damage to the wire from chaffing or wear. In areas of particularly heavy electrical storm activity, it may also be wise to unplug during storms to prevent power surge damage or plug unit into a surge protector. Up to 500’ of wire may be added to wind units if properly spliced. Unused wire should be left uncut as slack to save for
future relocation.

Installation of Multiple Electronic Units

All power-operated units can be run by a single power supply when connected in parallel. If you purchase them all at one time, they are provided with the single adapter plug. Connect all units; make sure not to connect the two power terminals on the same meter together. Using 22 guage stranded wire(provided), attach the adapter plug wire to the two power terminals on the rear of a meter requiring wire unit installed

DO NOT LINK BATTERY BACKUPS TOGETHER.
